LDS Nick Shirley On Minnesota Fraud, His Background - Mr. Beast and LDS Church Team Up!

Nick Shirley has allegedly uncovered mass fraud in Minnesota. Is this just a symptom of a much larger problem? Why isn't this type of journalism done by the big boys of news?

Mr. Beast and his philanthropic arm, Beast Philanthropic, have partnered with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

All right, welcome to Quick Show today.
My name is Greg Matson and I am your
host. In this episode, we're talking
about Latterday Saint, now investigative
journalist Nick Shirley, who just
returned from a mission just a couple of
years ago to Chile and the exposure of
fraud in Minnesota. This is very
interesting. It's very telling. Uh, and
it's not it's not isolated. We need to
understand this is not an isolated
event. This is probably happening all
over the place where there is money,
there is people trying to grab as much
of it as they can. We're also going to
talk about Mr. Beast and the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Massive YouTuber, Mr. beast uh who has
been at least in the past, I don't know
if he is today, the number one YouTube
channel in the world, has partnered with
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints on a humanitarian mission and
raising money for uh humanitarian needs.

just so many gout, unbelievable changes
based on this product. I would not be
sponsoring this or supporting this
product if it if I had not tried it out
first. This is what I did. I tried it
out for 90 days before I would even
agree to sponsor the product. So huge
change. It's a huge part of my health
and I do not miss it. Even on when
traveling, I bring it with me. Here we
go.
All right. So, Nick Shirley, I I'm going
to guess he's about 22 I think he's 23
years old,
uh, has done some investigative
journalism in the state of Minnesota
where he has exposed fraud. You've
probably heard this story. He's exposed
fraud at daycare centers, a number of
daycare centers that are receiving
millions of dollars every year. And
allegedly, they do not appear to
actually be running businesses,
certainly not with kids. He makes stops
at all of these different places, some
of them right next to each other in very
industrial areas. They check on the
doors, they talk to people, and they
knock on the doors. And there are no
kids. They're try to sign up a kid into
their program. They there's no paperwork
for this. Uh they appear it appears to
be
again it's all alleged right now but it
appears to be fraud at a pretty high
level within the Somali immigration.
This is not against all Somali. Uh we
need to understand that you can't just
throw some big umbrella idea of well
this is racist or this is the what they
used to get away with so much when they
tried to expose issues within a certain
community. Look, these are universal
principles. If you are taking money,
taxpayers money under fraudulent
circumstances, it doesn't matter what
your nationality is. It doesn't matter
what your race is. It doesn't matter
what your politics are, left, right,
center, it doesn't matter. You are
pulling off of the backs of the
taxpayers
and you're stealing money. This is all
alleged, but we're going to see where it
goes. It It doesn't look very good. Nick
Shirley puts out a 42minute
documentary on going to these different
places, stopping by, talking to them.
Let's just take a few minutes and and
take a look at this.
Hello. We'd like to ask where the
money's going.
What do you guys think about the fraud
that's taking place here in Minnesota?
Sorry.
I don't think anybody is enabling fraud
to happen.
Hold Governor Walls accountable for
this.
What was this money spent on?
1.26 million. What was that money spent
on?
There aren't any kids. Answer the
question. Are there children?
There's no children inside the building.
Potentially the largest fraud scandal in
US history is taking place in Minnesota
as literally billions of dollars have
been funneled through Somali ran
fraudulent businesses. So much fraud it
could actually almost replace the entire
GDP of Somalia. These fraudsters have
worked handinhand with the Minnesota
government as they enabled billions of
dollars to be given to fraudulent
business. Okay. So, again, I mean, he
goes knocks on all of these doors. They
cannot answer any questions. It doesn't
appear to be an operating business uh
possibly billions of dollars here uh
over numerous years that may have been
siphoned off of federal funds. The
question is is who knew about this?
Because this has been uh does the
governor know about these things? Does
uh other representatives in the House of
Representatives know about what is going
on? You know who I mean. Do we know
where all of this money is going? Have
we traced it? Cash Patel uh of the FBI
has talked about how they are doing
investigations on this. They have upped
their uh representation of agents
infiltrating into these
apparent schemes. And there's so much
more to find out. Who prepared the
paperwork to get this money? Who oversaw
this fraud to begin with? If it is
fraud, who knew the system well enough
to siphon all all of these dollars?
Let's go back to a little bit more of
Nick Shirley in this documentary.
No. Can you tell us why there are no
children? Have you ever seen children at
this child care center?
Where are the kids? Right here. State of
Minnesota website.
You work here and you don't know?
I don't know. I was there before. I
don't know what's what's going on.
Were there any Where are the kids?
Yeah. It
says it's licensed for 74 children
right here. State of Minnesota. Where
are the kids?
They got paid 1.26 million in fiscal
year 2025.
It says that have a capacity for 74
children.
Can I put my son in a daycare here?
No. No. I don't know.
Can I speak to someone?
No, I don't know.
No. Yeah. Hey, I would like to see if I
can put my son Joey here.
Who's your son Joey?
My son Joey.
Can I check out daycare center? Put
my son in here.
Where's the paperwork?
I'm the owner.
Do you do you put your kid here in this
dayare?
I was the owner. She said
there is one child in there.
And then this is the one that's gotten
the most press is the quality daycare
center here in Minnesota. Let's take a
look at this.
And this guy's been living here for 8
years. Has never seen a single child
walk through those doors. There's no
windows either.
No. And the only window they do have
door is blacked out in here.
I see that.
I've never seen anybody go in there.
And here is their we'll call it their
door approach. We
got Future Leaders Early Learning
Center. This building received 3 million
over $3 million. Hello. How are you?
See what she has to say.
I would like to see if I could bring
little Joey, my son little Joey here. Is
there a paperwork or can I check out the
daycare?
No.
No.
No.
Why can't I check out the daycare?
She's not here.
Okay. But if I can I get paperwork or
anything to submit my son, little Joey,
to come in here to dayare.
So bizarre.
We'd really like to put Joey in this
daycare. We've heard great things.
Business card.
No, I would like your business card,
actually.
Oh jeez.
You talk to your manager.
Okay. Can I speak with somebody?
Where where are the children at?
Are there children here today?
No.
No children.
No children here today.
Why are there no children?
Two to two Mexican.
Would my son little Joey have friends to
play with here?
No.
No.
No.
This is just a blind eye turned to
everything. And here's the problem that
you get into with with such now a
massive country. Well, what what are we
tilting toward 400 million people and a
massive massive bureaucracy?
Is that everybody shares the
responsibility over hundreds, thousands
of different bureaucrats and everybody
turns their their their
responsibility? Oh, well, they share it
with somebody else. I'm not fully
responsible for this. Paperwork gets
lost. It's not reviewed.
How does something like this happen? If
this is real and there are up to $18
billion dollar siphoned off of uh of of
government funds, how does this happen?
Is it the politicians?
Are they getting a cut of this? Again,
who sets all of this up and who turns a
blind eye? And why after so many years
hasn't this been discovered until a
23-year-old
without any investigative journalism
background goes to this extent to
uncover these things? And I know the
FBI's already been looking at this. I
know others have alleged fraud in the
community here, but nobody has gone out
and done this extensive research and on
the street reporting as this kid has
done. And again, how many other places
would we find this kind of thing
happening? This is simply a symptom of a
much greater problem. Where is this
money going? Now, I want to go into a
little bit of a background on Nick
Shirley here. I went back and checked
out his uh Instagram account, and this
is what I found. You go back into his
Instagram account. This is in December
of 2023. So, two years ago, I believe,
could be wrong here, but I believe this
is just shortly, very shortly after he
got back from his uh his mission to
Chile. He starts checking out the
border, the US border with Mexico. Let's
go over a couple of things here that he
that he does. Behind me we have hundreds
of immigrants that are coming to the
country right as you are watching this
video.
Yeah.
No
Spanish in Chile.
They're giving reasons why they're
coming.
I'm here by myself at the US border with
Mexico and behind me we have hundreds of
immigrants that are coming to the
country right as you are watching this
video.
Okay. So anyway, very interesting stuff.
Let's go a little bit further here with
him.
I am here in Jacumba, California. I like
this one.
This is the United States.
Over here on the in January of 2024, I'm
going to show you how easy it is. So
he's on the US border side
to cross the border.
All right. Right now I'm in the United
States and
Eto Mexico. It's that easy to cross the
border and people are just walking
through just like this. I am here in
Jacumba, California. This is the United
So anyway, there are a number of these
examples where he kind of does these man
on the street types of things. He's got
a phone it looks like and a small mic
and he's just going around in
investigating and and interviewing
different people especially on the
border. A lot of this has to do with
immigration. I want to just briefly say
again here with immigration my point of
view anyway is that yes we want
immigration in place but you can't have
uncontrolled immigration. You end up
with diff many problems who's coming
into the into the country. You have no
way of knowing who's coming into the
country.
You you you have he's got some people
here. Well, he starts seeing people
coming in through the border, the
Mexican border that are Chinese.
Who's sending them? You want
immigration, but you have to have
control over it. And and you have to
have assimilation to constitutional
principles. Period.
The difficulty comes in when you have
naturalized citizens or let's just say
those that are born in the US that are
Americans who don't like constitutional
principles and of course they're going
to go out and they're going to fight
against bringing people in that are
going to support constitutional
principles. So you get internal conflict
from those that want to fight against
American principles, constitutional
principles, universalism,
supporting others who want to come in
and destroy basically the founding
principles of America. Now let's look at
a few things that have been written up
on Nick Shirley. Of course, this is so
interesting the way they always do this.
They have put him in as a MAGA
journalist or a MAGA YouTuber. And he
probably is MAGA just looking at
everything, right? He probably is, but
this is very much trying to to uh attack
the credibility of what he's talking
about in Minnesota. That's what they're
doing. You don't see Axios go out and
talk about an investigative journalist
uh that is highly Marxist or progressive
at least and talk about them as a
progressive journalist XYZ,
right? gave a report on XYZ. You just
don't see that. But man, if they're on
the right, you're going to label them.
And if possible, hey, if you could put
in MAGA on this, then you're going to go
after their credibility by putting this
type of a label on them. without putting
a label on those that are on the left,
left-wing journalist or far-left
journalist or progressive journalist,
you provide the illusion that there is
an unbiased opinion happening,
unbiased reporting. So, here's what
Axios has to say. Nick Shirley, a MAGA
friendly YouTuber, lit up X during
Christmas week with video reports from
Minnesota alleging massive fraud in
government funded child care programs
and provoked approving responses from
the FBI and Vice President JD Vance. Why
does it matter? Surely 23, there you go.
23 years old, who has more than 1
million YouTube subscribers and spoke
during a White House roundt this fall,
is one of several young independent
journalists turning heads among
conservatives and Trump Trump
administration officials by going on
location and quickly posting minimalist
outrageinducing videos. Okay, the
outrageinducing videos comment there is
definitely meant again to uh to to to
bring in the bias on this. Now, it is
outrage stuff. He that's is his
background. That's what he does. But
another point I want to make is that
what YouTube has done and the internet
has done it is has democratized
information.
So it's not just a mantle of okay here
you have ABC, NBC and CBS as many of us
grew up with before Fox News even came
along and and they controlled the
information. They controlled the
narrative. And of course they're highly
progressive.
uh they've got a background in in how to
do journalism, which is great, but
they're also there's a certain narrative
there. And then Fox News comes along,
they kind of go against the grain on in
terms of a narrative out there, but they
also are part of the mainstream media,
right? They also are part of the
mainstream media. They don't go out and
you don't see them doing this, right?
What what what Nick Shirley is doing and
and uncovering these types of things
here. So you've got a democratization of
information coming out there and you've
got the elitists at the top here, ABC,
NBC, CBS, Fox News, CNN, etc. And then
you've got the people that are going out
and saying, "Hey, what is going on? The
status quo here doesn't look so good to
me."
And so there's a real shakeup in news
itself.
Here's a news write up, an article write
up on Nick Shirley in at CNN. And here's
the same thing, right? They all they're
all given the same talking points. It's
it's so ridiculous and frustrating, you
know? It's it's all propaganda. But
here's what it says. Who is Nick
Shirley? The 23-year-old MAGA journalist
whose Minnesota fraud story went viral.
Now, one of the other reasons they bring
up MAGA here is they want you to know
this is not one of us. Hey, you
progressive audience out there, this is
not one of our progressive people here
doing this story. So, that's the title
for Hadas Gold here, who I've read a lot
of her stuff previously. And this is
what it says. One week ago, 23-year-old
Nick Shirley was relatively unknown in
the public sphere, but in recent days,
he has gained hundreds of thousands of
followers and millions of views. 116
million views on X, I believe, on his
42-minute documentary.
116 million.
How does that compare to the views of
CNN in a day as an example?
The MAGA leaders promoted Shirley's
video of himself. Okay, this is all
true, but again, why don't you point
this out on both sides?
And they talked about what I said. They
said Shirley's experience could only
happen in today's media and political
environment where seemingly anyone can
go viral, helped along by social media
gatekeepers like Musk. Of course,
they're not giving the example on the
left where this happens all the time.
His Minnesota investigation video has
garnered over 116 million views on X and
1.6 million views on YouTube, a number
that most traditional newsrooms would
trump it as a major success. This is a
good thing. This is a disruption that
Okay, so this is a quick clip also I
just wanted to add in here on Nick
Shirley that is from the officer Tatum.
He is a high-profile conservative social
media guy and he's interviewing Nick
Shirley here and Nick has a chance to
plug the church here. Let's see what he
says.
You go from the prank fun the prank fun
stuff to to slightly dangerous stuff.
Mhm. What happened was I eventually,
since I'm from Utah, most of us are
members of the Church of Jesus Christ
Latter Day Saints, I went on that that
two-year mission trip uh that we do and
I learned Spanish. And after actually
going to Amfest in 2023, I saw how there
was so many people that were interested
in politics. I was also very interested
into politics myself and people started
talking about the border. And so I went
down to the border to interview people
as they were coming across the border
cuz I could speak Spanish. I didn't
actually believe people were just like
walking through the border. And I
started interviewing him in Spanish.
Nobody knew that people were just
literally being handed over from the
cartels across the border and they were
being shuffled to these
Okay. So, so he he he takes the tool of
learning Spanish and says, "Hey, I can
talk to these people that are coming
across the border personally. I can go
down there with a phone and a mic and I
can start talking to them." And he plugs
the church here uh learning how how he
learned Spanish and was able to do this,
which is fantastic.
I I don't know the views on this clip
here, but it has uh 15,000 likes on it
so far, which probably means it has 100
200 300,000 views on it.
And that's just the clip here.
So, we'll see what comes of this whole
thing. Uh at a very minimum, hopefully
there are not not just a a look at
what's happening in Minnesota, but we
need a stronger review of funds. This is
other people's money and politicians
just don't care the way that you care
about this.
And it's so easy to just say, "Oh, big
deal. It's it's it's $18 billion. We're
dealing in trillions." And you give a
little bit here, there's a little bit
there, and there's not enough oversight.
There's not enough
background checking on obviously on
these companies.
Doge showed us that there was an awful
lot of fraud everywhere.
And when you start seeing a pattern like
this, you have to understand the system
is sick and something's got to be
changed. Now, lastly, I want to go to
our next story, and that is on Mr.
Beast. Mr. Beast is one of the most
popular YouTubers out there. I don't
know if he still has the top channel,
but he he has had the top YouTube
channel for several years. And he has
just partnered with the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints for his
philanthropic
uh division here,
which is called Beast Philanthrop, which
is which is called Beast Philanthropy.
So, if we look here at
our sponsors at Beast Philanthropy, this
is hilarious. I love that the church is
willing to do this. Absolutely love
this. I wonder I wonder if Daryl Ees had
something to do with this because he has
has worked with Mr. Beast on his
promoting and and his YouTube skills on
this. He's Daryl Ees is now one of the
members of the board of advisors for the
young men that was just recently
announced I believe last week. But if we
scroll down here and look at some of
this, and I I think this is so funny who
he's there with, but there we have the
they are a diamond level
uh contributor or partner, supporter,
donor to beast philanthropy. So
obviously the church has hashed this
out, has looked at it and said, "This is
a good place for us to help give
donations to for philanthropic uh uh
ventures." And and this is what it says
here. The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints seeks out and renders
aid to all without regard to religious
affiliation. I love this universal
principle. Without regard to religious
affiliation, race or nationality, the
church, its members, and its friends
have combined their donations with
volunteer efforts to relieve suffering
and build self-reliance around the
world. This is very much about
humanitarian care for especially poverty
in in certain areas. And so they've
partnered up. This is fantastic. Another
diamond sponsor here is the Liver King.
Uh I'm not sure if you're familiar with
him, but uh he he's also a YouTuber. And
uh his mission is to change the
trajectory of human health in our
lifetime. I love that too. But here you
have the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints getting into new
media, which is so nice to see, right?
This is uh uh something that is so
important that we have not done very
well. If you followed the social media
accounts of some of the general officers
of the church, they're not very good.
I'll be real honest and blunt on this.
They're not very good. And they need to
get more involved with putting their ear
to the ground with people who know what
they're talking about
so that they can get more involved with
media. Now, there's some things that the
church can never do. This is is very
clear. All right. The church could not
speak the way that I speak, right? Or or
several other influences out there
speak. They can't take those things and
run with them because they have to take
very official positions on things and
have to look at many different
audiences around the world and and
politically and and etc. There's things
that they cannot do, but they can get a
little more savvy, a lot more savvy on
social media and and who they're
involved with. It doesn't just have to
be the Red Cross as an example, right?
Beast philanthropy. I think that this is
fantastic. Bravo to the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints for moving
forward on this and I hope that this is
going to bear a lot of fruits. And I I
think that uh Mr. Beast is very
dedicated to making this happen and he's
taken a big hit on his views and
everything else because he's so involved
with other partners and and people that
are looking to help others out through
humanitarian aid. I hope you enjoyed
today's episode. If you did, please like
and subscribe and we'll see you soon.
