The Ancient Israelite Temple Drama told the story of the last week of Jesus's life in mortality that we call Holy Week. Our own temple experience does the same.

all right So today is Wednesday of Holy
Week Today there's not a lot written
specifically about this day It possibly
is the day that uh Judas decides he is
going to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of
silver The the price of a
slave And the high priests are probably
conspiring here or at least they're
conspiring goes into high gear here on
on Wednesday Jesus is likely it appears
to be spending time with friends and
family in Bethany just outside of
Jerusalem It also is possible that he
was anointed here as well at this time
Uh what I want to focus on today is the
overall week of Holy Week and what this
represents I said this a little bit in
the first episode on Palm Sunday but I
want to reiterate this as we look at the
Holy Week One of the reasons to
celebrate all of Holy
Week is again because of the temple
drama And when I talk about the temple
drama I'm speaking of both the ancient
Israelite temple drama which is played
out in Jesus's last week of his life
here in mortality and our temple drama
because ours is the same thing It is
tied directly into this last week the
Holy Week And of course when we go
through a temple experience we are first
washed and anointed We are talked of as
kings and queens and priests and
priestesses because we're about to begin
a royal procession It's the same
idea And we are going to go through uh
adversity as we watch Adam and Eve right
we are Adam and Eve We're going to go
through the adversity We're going to
fall just like in the ancient
uh the ancient temple drama The king is
going to fall
and then and then later be exalted and
resurrected Um we go through uh the week
of Jesus essentially if you think about
what you're doing as you go through the
ironic and then the Melkisedc priesthood
and then finally arrive at the
veil for resurrection Right this is what
happens with Mary and and Jesus here
He's about to go to the veil and uh um
meet back with his father We we our our
temple experience is the same to some
degree as what it was anciently It's
tied in and centralized in that last
week of Jesus's life They were
prophesying of what was going to
come for us We are looking back at at
what was and what happened and what
Jesus did But they are tied together The
holy week is a temple week and it always
was They would act out what would be
happening If we go back and look at this
as ritual which it certainly is then and
I mean I mean anciently and and what's
happening with Jesus in his last week is
all ritual It's all they all know what
to do They're all playing out the
ancient temple drama But you can see
this in the scriptures as you go back
into uh for example into Isaiah and you
get word of basically John the Baptist
who is um who is crying repentance in
the wilderness and preparing the way of
the king and you see this in the
suffering servant and the servant songs
The suffering servant is about Jesus It
is a ritual that is taking place In this
case it's probably Hezekiah who is the
king playing out the drama playing out
the temple drama as the suffering
servant And and that's that suffering
servant is a ritual It's not just some
guy Isaiah thinking about what's going
to happen in the future and prophesying
this thing That's not how that's written
That is a ritual They're going through
the ritual And it's probably Hezekiah
there the king who is going through and
acting as the suffering servant In that
case it's
ritual And so these rituals these these
temple dramas that were acted out and
they're acted out throughout all of the
ancient Middle East and and probably the
entire world to some degree but
especially in the ancient Middle East
they're very near east They're very uh
uh similar to what the Israelites were
doing in many ways even in Egypt in
their festivals Um you see you see a
looking forward to what is going to
happen with Jesus throughout this week
We're so used to just looking at Easter
instead of the entire week of Holy Week
But we have to understand the whole
thing What's going on he's writing in as
the King of Kings He's coming in through
a royal
procession You've got to see that first
That is what we do before we go through
the endowment We've got to see this as
the whole week and everything that
happens during that week Obviously the
crowning event is Easter is the
resurrection of Jesus Christ But it's
it's a shame you know the other the
other Christian denominations many of
them put us to shame in in doing these
the Holy Week and and the rituals that
they have the customs that they have the
remembrance that they have I've got a um
a Greek Orthodox church here just north
here in Scottsdale that uh you know they
do all of these amazing things for Holy
Week I wish we did that We need more of
this I think
and more more ritual more culture in
that sense that's focused on Christ And
I think that's what the church is trying
to do I'm not saying we're ever going to
get to the level of some Christian
denominations and what they do but make
Holy
Week uh something special Start off with
Palm Sunday Cook a certain meal that you
do for Palm Sunday Read each day I've
got a study guide that I put out uh on
the YouTube channel in the community
section and it's also on my website
right now for this week at quickdia.com
cwicdia.com free that you can take
something like that and read certain
scriptures read about what's happening
each and every day with your family or
your spouse or yourself and and go
through the entire week and and make
that week something special not just
Easter day
Thanks for listening
