"Separation & Gathering"

Many of the early revelations to Joseph Smith in the Doctrine and Covenants were "bedrock" doctrines & principles that have been laid out in all dispensations. As in Section 27 & 28, Section 29, if you are looking for it, reveals to us the principles of creation, covenant, separation & gathering through hierarchy, the "word" (DBR) of God, and the prophecy of "end of times" apocalyptic events. The revelation is given in the context of a "gathering" as it was given just days before the General Conference of the LDS church. This is why we see the allusion to the phrase "as a hen gathers her chicks."

This is all set in a "covenant" stage of separation and gathering toward being "one", toward Zion.

When we read the Doctrine and Covenants, the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the Pearl of Great Price through certain lenses, or "Interpreters", we see something completely different, just as Jesus taught the parables with several layers of meaning.
