Diffusionism vs. Cultural Evolution
The temple experience has always existed. A corrupted version can be seen throughout Egypt and other ancient societies.
Cultural Evolution is founded on the process of the Hegelian Dialectic. Eventually, the dialectic attacks core, eternal truths and leaves us without anchor or objective truth.

can't sleep it is about 5:20 a.m. should
have been able to sleep after jet lag
but no sleep so I'm going to go take a
walk in Cairo with my cardio Miracle
here all right well let's take a walk
here in Cairo I arrived
yesterday what would be afternoon here
in Egypt and uh really couldn't sleep
much so I was up early walking around
around it's like I'm not getting back to
sleep so I'm just going to go out and do
a walk here just left the hotel I come
in a couple days early because uh it
takes a bit to acclimate and to try and
uh get in the same uh routine you know
sleep at night wake up in the morning so
it takes a while I may have to take a a
nap this afternoon in order to try and
get back onto schedule here
so anyway um so on Saturday on my way
here
uh morning how are
you on Saturday on afternoon uh the
afternoon before I was leaving for Egypt
uh I got a call from Bruce and Brian
from going do travel and uh Bruce is
having some health issues and he's not
going to be able to make it these are
health issues that look like they're
going to be solved and everything's
going to be fine fine but he's not going
to make it on the trip so guess who is
the
presenter uh now I always do a little
bit here and there with Bruce on things
uh but Bruce is front and
center as he should be and
so uh yeah so I got laid with that and
and I'm it's a Dawning task but uh I'm
kind of looking forward to it now this
episode is brought to you by cardio
Miracle you saw me doing that travel
pack this morning I do that every
morning and every evening when I'm gone
take it twice a day when I'm gone
because it's pretty difficult to get to
it three times I take it three times a
day when I am uh at home and it's
something that's a really big difference
this is something that was just approved
by the way for hsas it's that good right
so you can go in and on your hsas you
purchase your cardio Miracle this can
now count toward that those HSA funds
for your health uh your health policy so
very exciting stuff and why would they
do that because it is scientifically
tested right this is not snake oil this
is awesome stuff I swear by this stuff
uh it has made a big big change on my
labs on my blood pressure on a lot of
things and so I recommend that if you
have not tried this out yet that you go
try it out there's a free 90-day trial
period on this so you can go in and
purchase that and uh see what it does
for you give it a try test it out see
what you think for yourself don't take
my word for it try it for yourself okay
so one thing I wanted to go through that
I go over on these trips uh that Bruce
has always Bruce Porter has always
covered as well is diffusionism I want
to talk about that a little bit we've
talked previously on a previous walk
about the two arcs of time right you've
got an arc of time that is uh um
hegelian that that pushes out something
radical it brings back something more
moderate and pushes out something radic
radical then you kind of move forward in
this dialectic as it's called what's
interesting is that I'm walking through
a uh by the way this here is my
hotel right here I'm walking through an
amusement park here right now that is
right next to it we stayed here last
year as well when we came to Cairo I
think we're staying here at the end of
the trip also it's a great Hotel um but
diffusionism says basically at the very
beginning with Adam and Eve right the
gospel was taught including eventually
not right at first but eventually the
entire Gospel of Jesus Christ and this
is uh something that in in is very
difficult to look at historically
because most of biblical archaeology
history studies of History are not going
to agree with something like this and so
it goes against the Arc of time that
scholarship would say and that's hard
that's hard for me I like scholarship to
some
degree because there's a lot of
narratives there that are also blatantly
false that they continue to follow but
you know there's obviously so much
information that you can pull from from
scholarship the scholarship that is done
but diffusionism says all of the
information was there at the beginning
and then spiritual
entropy comes about and eventually
Things Fall away and this is really how
these scriptures show this right they
show it this way where you have what you
might call dispensationalism where you
have a a an amount of truth that's going
to come out and it's the keys are given
the priesthood is given and then
eventually Things Fall Apart and there's
apostasy right or there's break offs Etc
and that's how the scriptures show it
and so as Latter-Day Saints I think that
as
of all Christian
denominations we focus on this more than
anybody else because of the restored
scriptures that we have that really go
in and talk about this uh um the Jesus
Christ specifically being prophesied of
from the very very beginning now the New
Testament says this right the New
Testament says that all the prophets
prophesied this a central figure in this
is Moses who prophesies about the
prophet that's coming in the New
Testament says this is Jesus Christ
uh you've got the Brazen serpent that
you guys know I love to talk about which
is another issue there I believe of
spiritual entropy where it's there it's
an incredible thing and then all of a
sudden it's lost and even thrown out of
the temple right there's there's issues
there there's problems and so when you
look at Egypt and you come to Egypt and
you look at everything you see
here the best explanation you get is
from the book of Abraham which is the
Pharaoh comes with his mother egyptus
into a new land here and tries to mimic
the
priesthood uh he's a holy guy he's a
good guy he wants he's a righteous
person and but he doesn't have the right
to the priesthood so what does he do he
begins to preach this which would
include in my estimation a temple drama
the
ordinances the including the Washings
and anointings the uh endowment the
ceilings everything
you would have all of this and so the
amazing thing about Egypt as you walk
through it you see all the SES and we'll
we'll do some more on this the next
couple of weeks but you walk through all
the sites and you see this
everywhere right this is not from the
Masons this is not from Joseph Smith's
mind or Brigham Young's mind or anybody
else this is diffusionism this comes
from a a very Ancient Ancient time with
things that are very very similar to
what we do in the temple
today uh you can see the ritual Embrace
at the veil essentially you can see the
abrahamic Covenant you see the the
Washings and anointings you see talk
about eternal life and resurrection and
health and resurrection and a lot of
things that are very very
interesting uh you have Abraham 3 with
all the cab strange stuff in there that
in my mind as I look at I think that is
Abraham speaking to an Egyptian audience
and talking about a belief of something
like forus and who's a representation of
of the king and the Pharaoh it's a
manifestation of him and his father is
raw right and they're
they're they're the overseers of the
universe and the planetary system and
everything else and then down below that
in Abraham 3 you have all the spirits
that are kind of lined up to these
planetary systems and how they parallel
each other and that would be a
manifestation of the king of kings who's
going to be Jesus Christ or back then
Jehovah and there's all these parallels
that you find everywhere and you can see
these things by the way throughout
scripture the authors write about these
things from the scriptures
constantly they're they're making
reference to the temple drama they're
making reference to the ordinances we
just don't usually see it we don't think
about it in those terms uh my friend uh
David Butler just recently wrote a book
I did an interview with him just
recently on his book The Language of
Adam and he talks a lot about this how
you see the the temple throughout all of
the scriptures including the Old
Testament including the New Testament he
focuses in a lot on The Sermon on the
Mount as an example and these are not
new things these are not things made up
as an appendage to a relationship to
Jesus Christ these are not a these are
not appendages to existing Christianity
this is
Christianity the temple is
Christianity and without it everything
falls
apart and there's such a push recently
on against the temple and no wonder
right they're being built all over the
place there's going to be a lot of
adversity uh pushing against Temple work
as we're coming in through the last days
and we are in the last days so
diffusionism again is the thought
process that everything is restored over
and over again it was given originally
to Adam and Eve and then it falls apart
and a new dispensation is brought about
a new Prophet is called this is what the
scriptures show us it's not the other
way around right the other way around
would be something more along the lines
of uh Campbell and and Yung right Carl
Yung the the psychologist who will say
that all of these civilizations that
have the same thing they all have
creation accounts many of them have
flood stories many of them uh most all
of them have a temple experience that
are associated with those things or at
least with the creation account and talk
about the origin of man and they'll say
well this is just the psychology of man
who wants to believe uh he needs to know
where he's from needs to find his
purpose you know I I get that I
understand all that
uh maybe there's some truth in the fact
that that is what could
happen but diffusionism says it's the
opposite the truth has been given and
then it's
corrupted it falls
apart and has to have a
reboot so the oddest thing is and this
is a very very difficult conversation
for example if I'm speaking to an
Evangelical and all of a sudden they're
asking about Egypt and maybe why am I
doing tours in
Egypt that is a tough one because how do
you not get the knee-jerk reaction of
what your temples are similar to the
Egyptian temples so you're
pagans right and and so then you have to
be be able to have the time to go
through everything and show no let me
let me show you where this is all
Christianity and how this all
works uh very difficult discussion but
it's true
it's true that is the way it works and
we can do the same thing with the
Babylonians we can do the same thing
even looking at the Temple of Soloman we
can do the same thing with the Assyrians
and all of their archaeology and the
Greeks and everybody else there is a
truth that is laid out in the world that
comes from God and then it falls apart
the opposite Arc of this is more of a
progressive Arc and that Progressive Arc
says that we're always
progressing so going back they're
simpletons going back they don't know as
much all of this knowledge that we have
gained um is an improvement to our
condition the problem
is it's not is it because if there's a
breakdown of spiritual truth if there's
a breakdown of religion if there's a
breakdown of your relationship with God
if there's a breakdown of family if
there's a breakdown of prayer if there's
a break down of goodness that is not
progress and that's all that
matters it's all that
matters so
diffusionism on the one hand I believe
is the answer to a gospel centered
Arc
dispensationalism whereas a progressive
Arc I believe my
opinion Works more on a scholarship
basis
and tries to say that we are always
moving toward a position of progress
based on this dialectic push out hard
come back to the middle push out hard
come back to the middle and that is what
we follow that is what happens that's
how it works but when you're pushing out
hard from Eternal
truths and they start to get critiqued
and break down then you end up with you
lose an anchor you lose an an of Truth
and then you end up with a bunch of
people that had that truth that now see
it critiqued that lose a little bit of
faith and they start going off on these
different Avenues of things to believe
what am I going to believe now what do I
hold on to now my faith has been you
know softened up on the belly here a
little bit and what am I going to
believe now where do I go with
this uh I think that's the place we're
going I within the church right I talk a
lot about Western Civilization
especially and culture but you know
within the church is what really matters
to me that's the important thing and I
think that that is what is starting to
happen we're losing faith in
things as if this hasn't been the
process over and over and over again
before in previous
dispensations as if the same things
weren't happening back then the same
ideas weren't breaking things apart and
we weren't grabbing on to different
tangents um it's the same thing same
thing's going on the church is true the
gospel is
true Jesus Christ paid for our
sins and expects us hopes for us to
return to him and to become more like
him that's the
key he expects us to try and become more
like
him thanks for listening
